Benefit

I helped out with a benefit a month or so ago for a lady's husband who was suddenly ill and slipped in to a coma. The lady, Judy, is our village clerk and I work with her on our town board. At the benefit they had a bunch of silent auction items and the one below that the boys are playing with was one of the items. Grady wanted it that night so we put a bid down, as soon as we walked away another little boy went up to the toy wrote his name down and his daddy helped him write the dollar amount one dollar higher than our bid. As I walked back by the set of toys I realized that little boy had wrote his name down after every bidders bid and was sitting next to the toys so he could continue to out bid everyone. We explained the situation to Grady and he was ok with not getting the toys but asked if the boys could play with them. Since the evening was coming to an end we let them and the other little boy, Nathan got the bid! The next day we were back in the same building after church and Grady said "I'm going to go play with the cows and fence with Nathan mom" I had to explain again that the little boy got to take them home and that maybe Grady could ask for some for his birthday. He never mentioned the cows and fence again until...Judy came to our house about a week after the benefit to collect some money from me for some auction items I had delivered. She had a bag in hand and asked to talk to Grady. Guess what was in the bag!! His very own fence, feeder bunk, and a set of cows. Judy's sister Jenny fell in love with Grady and thought he was such a good boy that she bought him his own set to say thank you for all of my help and for having such a sweet little boy! The Lord truly works in amazing ways through each of us!

Say thanks daily for what you have instead of using up prayers on what you want or don't really need.
